I bought the Table Mate to use with my notebook computer. It’s so much better than the TV tray I was using. Yes, it does do everything you see in the ads and on TV. It looks great and the durable woodgrain color matches the big computer desk and other furniture in my home office. When my computer tech stopped by, he was so impressed that he plans to buy one, too. Some friends are also interested. They thought the tables looked good on TV, but didn’t know how great the TableMate would actually be until seeing one in person. Now I can take my notebook computer anywhere in the house and adjust the table height for the chair or sofa I’m sitting on. I can pull the table close to me for typing on the keyboard because its legs slide under even upholstered furniture, something I couldn’t do with the TV tray. The legs sliding under a bed bring the table into just the right position for eating or anything else a flat surface is needed for. The table is so versatile that I might purchase more TableMates to replace the TV trays.

The top is all plastic and even though it’s rated to hold up to 50 lbs., you’ll notice it sags in the middle with as little as a 7 pound laptop on it (that’s what I use it for).

I’d give it 5 stars for convenience if it weren’t for this and the fact that the TableMate website has NO contact telephone number – and does NOT respond to e-mails inquiring about a replacement top – it’s supposed to have a lifetime warranty against breakage, bending, etc.

Mine has developed a permanent warp to the point that my mouse won’t even lay flat. A steel shim molded into the top’s perimeter lip would have made for a much more rigid design.

This is a great product, its sturdy enough to use in any practical use. We mainly use it to eat or use a laptop while on the couch. It has a decent reach but those who might have a couch with a deep seat, you cant lay back and still have the table comfortably close. We don’t have kids so it hasn’t been kid tested. But it works well for what we use it for.

Great product, but they need to improve the locking mechanism on the underside. If you pick the tray up wrong, you could easily unlock it and then your contents will dump on your lap.

Basically, a very good product; however, it was smaller than I had expected. I purchased a similar item advertised under the same name and model number previously from another on-line mail order source and wanted to obtain a second one. Seeing it on Amazon.com I placed this order, which though satisfactory, was different than I had expected. Bottom line: good service, good product but different than I had anticipated.
