request by Jeffery B : P0506 engine code? I have a 2004 F-150 4.6L V8. Where is the IAC valve? Most of my travel is in the city. I recently took a long trip in it & just before I got home, my check engine light came for the first time I checked all my fluids & my truck started & stopped at a red light when taking slow corners. I went into the car part store & that’s when they told me the P0506 code. So I bought a new air filter, installed it & looked clean my throttle, which seemed into me. Then I pulled my negative post on my battery for about 10 minutes. & again & let it run without accessories for about 10 minutes. All seemed well, then I bought some fuel injection cleaner, & my truck was filled with the top gas. Everything seemed into the other day sitting in traffic, the engine light came back perfect. I brought it back into auto part store & I still have the P0506 code. Can someone please help me understand what is involved in the vacuum process? Where is the IAC valve is located? (Picture would be the best), what other steps I should take in solving this problem? If the code is on … Idle rauh.Ich know what reads the P0506 code, I just do never know what I should take the next step. Best answer:

If cannot easily solve problem you need a mechanic with a scanner to get the details on why the code was set and what your engine sensors are reading a simple code reader cannot do this. Even with information it takes a good mechanic to diagnose what is the root cause. Not always easy to do.

scanner wont tell u why this happened just tell u the error codes for each problem in your engine. there is most likely a vacuum leak but that wont show up as a code and your idle air control valve is located on your throttle body. And dont put premium gas in your truck it doesnt help ur truck at all. all higher octane gas is for cars that have different compression ratios. youll be just fine on regular gas. only use the stuff if the manufacturer specifies using it
